Long live the ticketing revolution!
Imagine never having to worry about mundane everyday chores: your laundry takes care of itself, your flat cleans itself and your fridge fills up without you spending ages in the supermarket. Sounds cool, doesn't it? Delegating tedious tasks to sophisticated technologies also makes perfect sense because it frees up time that we can instead spend doing the things in life that really make us happy.
That's exactly what FAIRTIQ founder Gian-Mattia Schucan set out to do more than five years ago, "What the passenger is actually paying for is the journey, the mobility. The ticket is simply a means to an end. Using public transport should be easier and more fun. Navigating your way through tricky ticketing issues should become a thing of the past."
Simplifying public transport use is FAIRTIQ's founding vision.
Questions like "Is it worth buying a one-day pass or a monthly season ticket? What fare zones am I going to travel in? Are there any saver tickets available?" should become a thing of the past.
Pocket-size, portable ticket machine – a game-changing solution
FAIRTIQ is not an overnight phenomenon. The ticketing app is the result of lots of research, tinkering and testing. FAIRTIQ app users no longer have to waste their valuable time working out the correct fare zone and hunting around for spare change to feed into the ticket machine. The app does it for them. All they have to do is decide where they want to get on and get off, leaving them more time to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
This is what FAIRTIQ has been up to for the past five years and we want you to share in our success!
When we launched our ticketing app on the market, enthusiastic users immediately snapped it up. And their numbers keep on rising.
From the outset, many have embraced our mission to make it as easy as possible for everyone to use sustainable mobility. Five years on, more than 24 million trips have been made with the FAIRTIQ app and more than 90,000 people use it on a regular basis every month.
FAIRTIQ initially could only be used on the Swiss public transport network. Very quickly, it became clear that interest in this ticketing revolution had spread to Austria and Germany. Today, we have a growing network of partners in neighbouring countries: public transport users across Liechtenstein and in many parts of Germany and Austria can get from A to B hassle-free thanks to the FAIRTIQ app.
Celebrate with FAIRTIQ
The FAIRTIQ ticketing revolution would be nothing without you and all the other app users. You have helped us to build a real FAIRTIQ community. As our success has grown, so too has the FAIRTIQ team. Today, our 70 or so employees work tirelessly to ensure that the app is the best it can possibly be. Each new feature they develop is designed to make travelling on public transport easier than ever before.

A springtime fondue
FAIRTIQ's four founders celebrated the company's fifth birthday with a traditional Swiss fondue. The timing of this cheese-filled feast was as revolutionary as the ticketing solution they created – most people would have packed away their fondue pot and forks by the middle of spring, but then the four founders are not most people! Watch the video and get the fascinating inside story on the ticketing revolution that has transformed public transport use over the last five years.
Whether you are a seasoned FAIRTIQ user or have just stepped on board the FAIRTIQ express, join us as we celebrate our 5th birthday! Sit back, relax and enjoy the trip.
