London, United Kingdom – 20.03.2026 – Mobile pay-as-you-go’s status as the future of public transport took centre stage as an international coalition of partners, powered by FAIRTIQ technology, secured a series of prestigious accolades at the Transport Ticketing Global 2026 ceremony.

FAIRTIQ’s innovative approach to seamless multimodal travel was recognised across five key categories, highlighting the company’s role as a leading technology partner for national and regional transport authorities:

  • Winners: Cross-Border Ticketing – Recognised for the revolutionary international "router layer" in the Euregio Maas-Rhine with the ACCEPT Institute, Arriva, and partners.
  • Winners: Best Commercial Strategy Initiative – Recognised for the successful data-driven approach to growth for the eezy.nrw system with KVB and VRS.
  • Silver Award: National Integrated Ticketing – Awarded to Rejsekort & Rejseplan A/S and FAIRTIQ for the nationwide transition to mobile-first ticketing in Denmark. The Rejsekort app already surpassed 70% market share in the country.
  • Silver Award: Revenue Protection & Fraud Prevention – Following their victory in last year’s Best Commercial strategy award, this year La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée & SNCF Voyageurs, and FAIRTIQ were recognised for their innovative model of rewarding positive traveller behaviour to ensure high compliance while reviewing 100% of journeys for suspicious travel behaviour.
  • Bronze Award: Ticketing Technology of the Year – Recognition for FAIRTIQ and other suppliers expanding the use of seamless mobile pay-as-you-go technology within the UK market, bypassing the hardware limitations of other technologies.

“This level of recognition across so many diverse categories validates a definitive industry shift toward mobile pay-as-you-go technology,” said Gian-Mattia Schucan, Founder and Co-CEO of FAIRTIQ. “By removing physical infrastructure barriers and prioritising passenger simplicity, our partners are collectively setting a new standard for effortless travel.”

He added: “With such a successful performance at this year’s Transport Ticketing Awards, I am already looking forward to next year when we will have delivered more initiatives with our partners, when existing schemes are more mature, and when our customers have enjoyed making many millions more journeys using mobile pay-as-you-go technology.”

A Unified Vision for Seamless Travel

The common thread among the night’s successes was the use of hardware-free, software-led solutions to solve age-old transit challenges. In Denmark, the national rollout of the Rejsekort app demonstrated that mobile-first ecosystems are the future of national transit. Meanwhile, in the border regions of Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, the ACCEPT Institute and Arriva demonstrated how national fare sovereignty can be preserved while offering passengers a single, transparent price for cross-border journeys. A challenge also faced by many regional schemes that need “Islands and Bridges” connectivity.

As these initiatives move from award-winning concepts to global blueprints, the message from Transport Ticketing Global 2026 is clear: the era of the seamless journey is here.
