Automatic discounts of up to 20 percent for passengers in Lausanne, Neuchâtel and Uri
Bern, 4 May 2026 – Travellers who frequently travel on public transport will now pay less – automatically and with no subscription required. To mark its tenth anniversary, FAIRTIQ, together with its first partner operators in Switzerland, is introducing a new discount model: the FAIRTIQ Bonus. Starting today, passengers in the regions of Lausanne (Mobilis), Neuchâtel (Onde Verte) and the canton of Uri will automatically benefit from tiered discounts on their public transport journeys. The FAIRTIQ Bonus replaces the previous 5 percent bonus model with a tiered system offering greater savings potential.
Travel more, save automatically
The principle is simple: the more FAIRTIQ users travel within a calendar month, the higher the discount applied to further journeys until the end of that same month. Discounts are activated automatically once certain spending thresholds are reached:
Only spending on journeys within the respective bonus regions counts towards these thresholds. The discount levels achieved apply exclusively to further journeys within those regions. The bonus resets at the start of each month.
As soon as a new level is reached, the app notifies users via push notification. The current bonus status can be viewed at any time in the FAIRTIQ app under Menu > Promotions > FAIRTIQ Bonus Switzerland.
With this new model, FAIRTIQ and its public transport partners are primarily addressing occasional and frequent travellers who value flexibility without committing to a subscription.
Advancing digital ticketing
The launch of the FAIRTIQ Bonus comes just weeks after the introduction of the timetable feature in the FAIRTIQ app. For the company, this step forms part of a broader shift towards more flexible, usage-based pricing models in public transport.
‘With the FAIRTIQ Bonus, together with our partners tl, transN and Auto AG Uri, we are demonstrating how fare models can better reflect actual mobility behaviour,’ says Gian-Mattia Schucan, Founder and Co-CEO of FAIRTIQ. ‘Passengers benefit automatically – with no planning and no commitment.’
First regions go live
The public transport operators Transports publics lausannois (tl), Transports publics neuchâtelois (transN) and Auto AG Uri are among the first to introduce the FAIRTIQ Bonus. In Lausanne, the model will initially be tested over a three-month period within the Mobilis network.
