FAIRTIQ is crowned one of the four best mobility start-ups in Europe, winning over the high-calibre, expert judging panel and the public with its easy-to-use and smart public transport ticketing solution.    

More than 550 European mobility start-ups entered the competition; only 12 made it to the final. At the virtual closing ceremony, these leading innovators, from Belgium, Germany, France, the UK, Israel, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland, pitched their solutions to the judging panel and the public watching at home.

Lavish virtual award ceremony

Although the coronavirus pandemic prevented an in-person European Startup Prize for Mobility ceremony, the organisers declared that this year's event was the most interactive, sustainable and extravagant yet. 

Winning over the high-calibre judging panel

The European Startup Prize for Mobility ceremony had an impressive line-up of VIP guest speakers: Prince Albert of Monaco, Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the EU Commission, and Lilyana Pavlova, the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank.

During the three-month selection process, the 50-member panel of judges carefully reviewed more than 500 competition entries, whittling them down to 12 finalists: two from Belgium, two from Germany and one each from France, the UK, Israel, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland. 

During the ceremony, the CEOs of all 10 mobility start-ups pitched their solutions via live video link to the online audience.

FAIRTIQ is one of the winners of the public vote

FAIRTIQ was one of the resounding winners of the public vote. When this was tallied with the judges' vote, the Swiss start-up ended the evening with an impressive 339 points, placing it in the Top 4. Fellow gold prizewinners were Pony, Surve Mobility and Skipr.A total of 270,000 members of the public tuned in to watch the spectacular final ceremony. Some 10,000 public votes were cast.

"It is clear to our European experts and to the public that they are mobility operators that will build the future of mobility in the years to come."
