“The world’s smallest metropolis”
With a population of some 54,640 people, Biel/Bienne is the 10th largest city in Switzerland, the second largest in the canton of Berne, and the country’s largest bilingual town. Swiss-German poet and writer Robert Walser went so far as to call it “The world’s smallest metropolis”. And it certainly lives up to this accolade. Biel/Bienne has something for everyone: you can shop to you drop, soak up the culture or indulge your inner foodie by sampling delicious specialities from near and far... and much, much more besides!
In case you need more convincing, between 6 July and 19 August 2019 FAIRTIQ users travelling on public transport in the Zentrumszone 300 (Biel/Nidau) after 7 pm will automatically receive a discount of CHF 1 on their fare.
