Innovation in public transport is a team effort. It happens when strong partners come together to explore new paths and, in doing so, earn recognition for their work. At this year’s Transport Ticketing Global Awards, several FAIRTIQ partners were honoured for their forward-thinking projects.
Awards that make a real difference
The award-winning projects highlight the tangible impact of mobile pay-as-you-go, from enabling seamless cross-border travel to driving growth through data:
🥇 Winner: Cross-Border Ticketing
Recognised for the pioneering international “router layer” solution in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, developed together with the ACCEPT Institute, Arriva, AVV and other partners. A major step towards truly seamless travel across national borders.
🥇 Winner: Best Commercial Strategy Initiative
Awarded for the successful, data-driven growth strategy of the eezy.nrw system, in collaboration with KVB and VRS in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The focus: increasing demand through simplicity and targeted campaigns.
🥈 Silver: National Integrated Ticketing
Presented to Rejsekort & Rejseplan A/S and FAIRTIQ for the nationwide shift to mobile-first ticketing in Denmark. The Rejsekort app has already reached a market share of over 70%, a strong signal of growing acceptance for digital solutions.
🥈 Silver: Revenue Protection & Fraud Prevention
Following last year’s win in the “Best Commercial Strategy” category, La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, SNCF Voyageurs and FAIRTIQ were once again recognised. This time for the innovative system that rewards positive passenger behaviour, ensures high compliance, and continuously monitors all journeys for fraudulent activity.
🥉 Bronze: Ticketing Technology of the Year
Awarded to FAIRTIQ and other providers for introducing mobile pay-as-you-go to the UK market, despite the hardware limitations of existing technologies.
⭐ Nominated: Regional Integrated Ticketing
The nomination for Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (KVV) recognised the CiCoBW initiative in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, as a statewide check-in/check-out system, marking another milestone for integrated mobility.
More than just awards
These projects make one thing clear: the transformation of public transport is no longer a vision, it is already happening. And it becomes especially visible where simplicity, fairness and digital innovation come together.
Together with our partners, we continue to drive this development forward. Step by step, towards a public transport system that is accessible to everyone and built around the needs of its users.
