FAIRTIQ Expands Language Support to Include Czech and Swiss German in its Ticketing App

May 13, 2024 FAIRTIQ Expands Language Support to Include Czech and Swiss German in its Ticketing App

Bern, 13 May 2024. FAIRTIQ, the pioneering mobile PAYG ticketing solution, announces the integration of Czech and Swiss German languages into its innovative ticketing app, enhancing accessibility and user experience for travellers.

The addition of Czech and Swiss German languages to the FAIRTIQ app reflects the company's commitment to providing a seamless and inclusive experience for all users. This development comes as a response to the expansion of the FAIRTIQ app to new markets. FAIRTIQ is proud to introduce the Czech language support to accommodate passengers in the Zlín region where the app will be launched later this year. With the expansion into the Czech language, FAIRTIQ aims to facilitate convenient and user-friendly ticketing experiences for residents and visitors in this area, but also for Czech speaking users in all other FAIRTIQ partner regions across Europe.

In addition to Czech, FAIRTIQ now also offers support for Swiss German, specifically the "Berndeutsch" dialect. This extension is a humorous homage to FAIRTIQ's origins as a Bernese start-up.

"We are excited to introduce Czech and Swiss German languages into the FAIRTIQ app, reaffirming our dedication to making public transportation accessible to all," said Gian-Mattia Schucan, Founder and Co-CEO at FAIRTIQ.

The integration of Czech and Swiss German languages into the FAIRTIQ app is now available for both iOS and Android users. The language of the FAIRTIQ app is based on the settings of the smartphone.

Travelling with FAIRTIQ

Before boarding a train, tram or bus, passengers check in by swiping the app. This means they have a valid ticket for the entire public transport network in the corresponding region. When they arrive at their destination, they swipe again to end the cost calculation. The app uses location services to register the route travelled and calculates the correct fare.

FAIRTIQ is a Swiss company with the mission to make it as easy as possible to travel by public transport. The free ticketing app and technology, developed and operated by FAIRTIQ and accredited based on strict quality criteria, can already be used across the entire public transport system in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as well as in parts of Germany, Austria and France. FAIRTIQ was recently selected to provide nationwide ticketing in Denmark.

Over 130 employees are involved in the operation and ongoing development of the product. FAIRTIQ was founded by Gian-Mattia Schucan in 2016 and is a private limited company with headquarters in Bern.

With over 160 million journeys in total, FAIRTIQ is the world’s most successful check-in/check-out solution available for iPhone and Android. FAIRTIQ’s partners include public transport companies and associations in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and France. Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) uses the technology operated by FAIRTIQ in its own app, EasyRide, and Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) also uses FAIRTIQ technology in its app.

FAIRTIQ users help saving more than 26 million tons of CO2 emissions per year through choosing public transport over higher emission modes of transport. This is equivalent to the yearly average CO2 emissions of over 6,600 Swiss inhabitants.
