Zlín Region and FAIRTIQ Celebrate One Year of Seamless Travel and Strong Adoption

July 01, 2025 Zlín Region and FAIRTIQ Celebrate One Year of Seamless Travel and Strong Adoption

Zlín, 1 July 2025 – One year after becoming FAIRTIQ’s first partner in Central Europe, the Zlín Region has marked a major milestone: over half a million journeys completed using FAIRTIQ’s mobile pay-as-you-go (MPAYG) solution. The successful implementation underscores the potential of digital ticketing to simplify travel, drive modal shift and strengthen public transport systems.

Launched in July 2024, FAIRTIQ quickly gained traction in the region. In the initial weeks, the app saw a strong uptake and numerous trips. Over the past year, that number has grown steadily, with FAIRTIQ now facilitating a significant number of journeys across trolleybuses, buses and regional trains.

Strong satisfaction and loyalty
A user survey conducted in June 2025 among 440 FAIRTIQ users in the Zlín Region reported:
  • Overall satisfaction: 9.5 out of 10 – a strong vote of confidence from users.
  • Making public transport easier: 9.7 out of 10 say FAIRTIQ simplifies their journey.
  • Fare transparency: 9.3 out of 10 value the clarity and fairness of our pricing.

These results reflect the solution’s reliability and its alignment with passenger needs and expectations.

Modal Shift: From Cars to Public Transport
FAIRTIQ has contributed significantly to a modal shift toward public transport:

  • 15.1% of respondents now use public transport much more frequently
  • 24.1% report using it slightly more
  • 21.1% drive less as a result of adopting FAIRTIQ

The transition from analogue to digital ticketing has also been substantial. Before launch, just 18.4% of travellers used a mobile app to purchase tickets. One year later, 84.8% report that FAIRTIQ offers a superior experience.
A Scalable Model for Regional Integration
The Zlín Region’s success is the result of strong collaboration between the regional transport authority KOVED and FAIRTIQ. By leveraging existing tariff groundwork and eliminating the need for costly infrastructure, FAIRTIQ enabled a rapid deployment.
The positive response from the travelling public suggests strong potential for expansion to other regions across the Czech Republic and beyond.

About IDZK and KOVED
Zlín Region Integrated Transportation (Integrovaná doprava Zlínského kraje, IDZK) connects public transportation modes in the Zlín region and its immediate surroundings. Buses, regional and long-distance trains, and urban public transport come together to form a comprehensive system with a single tariff, coordinated timetables and connections, and an instantly recognizable design. The goal is to create comfortable and competitive public transportation and to raise the region’s quality of life. KOVED (Koordinátor veřejné dopravy Zlínského kraje / Zlín Region Public Transportation Authority) is responsible for the system’s operation and development.
